Europe is a famous hard rock band from Sweden who achieved high popularity in the decade of 1980 until the early 1990s. Initially this group homage to prog metal. But after adding the elements in his music keyboards, Europe began worldwide.

The song “The Final Countdown” which is dominated by keyboards riff is the song that makes Europe as one of the top hard rock bands of the world. Since its founding in 1979, Europe managed to sell more than 20 million records worldwide. Having had decided to break around the year 1993, Europe finally returned to the arena rock world in 2003 and still exists today.

Europe was formed in 1979 in Upplands Väsby, Stockholm, Sweden by vocalist Joey Tempest, guitarist John Norum, bassist Peter Olsson and drummer Tony Reno, under the name Force. After winning a national music contest, they changed the name to Europe. In 1981, bassist Peter Olsson out and replaced by John Leven. In 1985 drummer Tony Reno replaced former drummer Ian Haugland Trilogy. Keyboards player Mic Michaeli was also recruited to strengthen the band’s formation.

Two limited release her first album in 1982 and 1984, Europe and Wings of Tomorrow. Both were received well in Japan and Scandinavia. Europe worldwide and achieved high popularity in the years 1986 through the third album The Final Countdown. This album produced the phenomenal hit “The Final Countdown” which ruled the charts number 1 in 26 countries.

Kee Marcello, guitarist of glam rock band Easy Action, John Norum come in and replace when Europe was busy touring. In 1988, Europe released their fourth album Out of This World which spawned the hit superstitious. Although not more phenomenal than the previous album, Out of This World was still able to seize several platinum. After that, Europe successful world tour.

1991 Europe released fifth album, prisoners in Paradise. Compared with the success of two previous multiplatinum albums, this fifth album sales were not too good because it only sold about 1 million copies worldwide. Prisoners in the Paradise had scored the hit “I’ll Cry for You” and the title track, which is the same as the album of “prisoners in Paradise”.

Many years of living in an exhausting tour of Europe decided to make personnel to rest. Plan a break of two years turned out to be longer, a member of Europe became busy with their respective solo careers and other projects. Grunge music strikes that hit the world come to make the market largely hard rock like that carried Europe participate buried.

Year 1999 Europe was invited to make a reunion concert. Guitarist John Norum and Kee Marcello agreed to appear together in a New Year’s Eve concert in Stockholm. They brought two classic hits of Rock The Night and The Final Countdown at this concert.

After this reunion concert, the news about the reunion of the total started to emerge. Year 2003, Europe decided to return to the rock music scene with their classic formation era of “The Final Countdown”, Joey Tempest (vocals), John Norum (guitar), Mic Michaeli (keyboards), John Leven (bass) and Ian Haugland ( drums). Although offered, guitarist Kee Marcello decided not to join.

Europe 2004 album Start From the Dark which was a fairly warm reception from the fans. Featured colors are more hard rock hard and dense with a bandage over thick guitars, the album sold more than 600,000 copies. Musical colors that are served very different from the color of their music in the decade of 1980. Year 2006 album Secret Society Europe that still match the album Start From The Dark. Europe seems to have decided not to return to their sound in a melodic 1980s. They appear more ferocious with the music that further highlight the distortion down-tuned guitars and drums roffel strong. September 9, 2009 Europe released a new album entitled The Last Look at Eden.
